Frequently Asked Questions

I usually suggest a course of 15-20 sessions. Progress will depend on a number of factors including whether you have other difficulties in addition to your DDD. I usually advise starting with weekly sessions. Later on these can then be spread out to fortnightly or monthly sessions

I can’t promise a ‘cure’ but nearly everyone finds something valuable about talking therapy that is specifically tailored for their DDD. For some that might be gaining a better understanding and ways of coping with their DDD even if symptoms remain. For others symptoms become less severe and frequent, and for some their DDD will dissipate completely.

Yes, we can have sessions via video-link methods such as Zoom. I have found this works well and it allows me to offer therapy to people internationally as well as in the UK.

The assessment allows me to fully understand your current difficulties with DDD, as well as any other problems you might be experiencing. I will ask specific questions about when your symptoms started and how they have changed over time. I will look at your personal and family history to put these difficulties into context. I will ask you to complete some questionnaires so I can monitor progress. The assessment also gives you a chance to see if we can work together before any further commitment to therapy

You don’t need to have a diagnosis already  before an assessment. During the assessment we will discuss diagnosis with you. If it appears that you may have other problems that are not Depersonalisation we will help signposting you to get appropriate help
